It's amazing what a person will put themselves through for another's affection. You stay up long hours catering to their every need, listen to their never ending commentary, buy and make gifts to lay at their feet, never taking offense that the majority of the time they turn their nose up at it, and crooning with pleasure when they see fit to accept it. You share your food with barely a second thought, let them drink from your glass before you get a sip, do ridiculous things to get their attention, that if anyone else saw you do would make you feel like an absolute fool. You would bend over backwards, sometimes literally, to make sure they are happy.

Affection, it seems, is a powerful force.

I for one, have spent the last fifteen minutes with my arm stretched voluntarily at an unusual angle behind my back, and then had a sharp object hanging from my ear with a pair of pincers clicking ominously next to my skin while the object of my affections poked a hole in my shirt.

So much tolerance for someone who has a penchant for destroying my keyboards and weighs less then some of my books.

Birds are weird.

Meet the boid, [link] a Goffin's Cockatoo that loves to be petted, cuddled, hanging off my glasses, sleeping on my hand while I work on my computer, and routinely steals food off my plate when she thinks I'm not looking. She's so CUTE
